Product Description of Polystyrene CAS#9003-53-6
Polystyrene, abbreviated as PS, is a common thermoplastic polymer produced by free-radical polymerization of styrene monomer. It is normally supplied as colorless transparent or white pellets. It features high rigidity, good dimensional stability and excellent transparency for general-purpose grades.
It is insoluble in water, resistant to dilute acids and alkalis, while soluble in many organic solvents. It softens above its glass transition temperature around 100°C and is suitable for injection molding, extrusion and thermoforming. Multiple grades are available including GPPS, HIPS and expandable EPS, catering to different processing and performance demands.

Product Application of Polystyrene CAS#9003-53-6
PS serves widely across consumer, packaging and industrial sectors. General-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) is used for transparent disposable tableware, cosmetic containers, optical parts and laboratory ware.High impact polystyrene (HIPS) delivers toughness for home appliance housings, toy shells and interior decorative components. Expandable polystyrene (EPS) works as lightweight thermal insulation material for construction, plus shock-absorbing packaging for electronics and fragile goods.
It is also adopted in cultural supplies and disposable packaging. Its easy processing and low cost make it a versatile polymer to meet mass production requirements.
