Natamycin CAS#7681-93-8

Highly Effective Antifungal Agent: Natamycin is a powerful inhibitor of molds, yeasts, and fungi, with activity significantly superior to sorbic acid.

Food-Grade Safety with GRAS Approval: It has been officially approved by the US FDA as a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) food preservative, ensuring high safety and reliability for food applications.

Preserves Food Quality and Flavor: Effectively controls microbial growth without affecting the original taste, aroma, or quality of food products.

Widely Used in Global Food Industry: Extensively applied in cheese, meat products, baked goods, juices, and other food categories worldwide for mold and yeast control.

Product Description of Natamycin CAS#7681-93-8

Natamycin, alternatively named pimaricin, was first extracted from Streptomyces natalensis back in 1955. Its capacity against fungi greatly outperforms sorbic-acid. In June 1982, the US-FDA granted official permission for natamycin to be utilised as a food-grade preservative and marked it as a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) ingredient.

This potent substance can restrain the reproduction of yeast, mould and other fungus species. It is adopted widely within the food-processing sector to hinder fungal proliferation. Safe for human ingestion, it will not alter the original taste of finished food. Around the globe, it is added into cheese, processed meat, baked pastries, fruit juice and numerous other food-stuff varieties.

It is manufactured via submerged-fermentation of Streptomyces natalensis, then subjected to sequential extraction and refinement procedures. The standard commercial blend contains 50% natamycin with the remaining 50% being lactose carrier.

Product Applications of Natamycin CAS#7681-93-8

Natamycin serves as a powerful anti-mould preservative. Once handled with its aqueous suspension by spraying or dipping the air-exposed food surfaces prone to mould contamination, it delivers outstanding fungus-resistant protection.

For fermented-cheese processing, it selectively holds back mould proliferation while permitting beneficial microbes to grow and metabolize normally.

For proper preservation, the product needs storing inside well-sealed packaging, kept away from direct sunlight and maintained below 15 °C.
